With these simple steps, you'll be able to quickly and easily find and access the settings you need in Outlook.

 

To find the settings in Outlook:

1 - Find the "Gear Icon" in the top right corner and click it.

2 - Use the quick search bar to look for the setting you need.

 3 - Alternatively, by clicking the link "View all Outlook settings" at the base of this panel.

This will open the settings window, where you can access a variety of settings and preferences related to your email account.

 

Block Email Addresses in Outlook

Another way to stop junk mail in Outlook is to block specific email addresses that are sending you unwanted messages.

Follow these steps for the desktop app:

1 - Right Click on any email, hover over the "Junk"

2 - Then select "Junk E-mail Options..."

 

Follow these steps for the web app:

1 - Find the "Gear Icon" in the top right corner and click it.

2 - Use the quick search bar and search for "Block Senders"

To block an email address

3 - Click + Add

4 - Enter the email address and hit enter. ie. (abc123@fourthcoffee.com)

To block all emails from a domain

3 - Click + Add

4 - Enter the domain and hit enter. ie. (fourthcoffee.com)

To unblock senders

6 - Click the trashcan icon

This will remove the address or domain from being blocked.

Stop Emails From Going to Your Junk Mail Folder

You may occasionally want to prevent emails from a specific sender or domain from going into your Junk Email folder. The Safe Senders list prevents messages from addresses or domains from going to your Junk Email folder.

Follow these steps:

1 - Find the "Gear Icon" in the top right corner and click it.

2 - Use the quick search bar and search for "Safe Senders"

3 - Click + Add

4 - Enter the email address and hit enter. ie. (abc123@fourthcoffee.com)

This will allow emails from users you have deemed safe to land in your inbox

 

The same steps can be followed for domains ie. (fourthcoffee.com)

Mark Emails as Junk or Spam in Outlook

In addition to using the spam filter and blocking email addresses, you can also help train Outlook to better identify junk mail by marking emails as spam.

Follow these steps:

1 - Select the messages you want to mark as junk.

2 - At the top of the screen, select Report

3 - Select Report Junk

This will move the message to your Junk or Spam folder.

 

Keep Your Email List Clean

Finally, the best way to stop junk mail in Outlook is to keep your email list clean. This means removing email addresses that are no longer in use, as well as unsubscribing from emails that you no longer want to receive.

Follow these steps: 

1 - To do this open Outlook and go to the "Contacts" tab, found top left

2 - Select the email addresses that you want to remove by clicking on them one by one or holding down the "Ctrl" key and clicking on multiple addresses.

3 - Click on "Delete" to remove these contacts from your list.
